Went down for a Hilton breakfast at 8:30am. One of the waitresses was speaking French..........what's that all about!
The rain Gods still had the upper hand as we drove to Halifax at 110 kph. Feels much faster than a measly 65 mph.
Stopped briefly at two visitor centers; one in New Brunswick and one in Nova Scotia. The two were less than a mile apart on either side of the Provincial border. The agents at each claimed to know nothing of the adjacent Province.......and they were serious!
We paused for lunch in Truro NS at
the "Nook and Cranny", the name recently upgraded from "Wooden Hog", an upscale restaurant that didn't make it......surprised?
We enjoyed a delicious cream of Mushroom soup while sitting in comfy Wingbacks. We missed the crystal and silver.
Arrived Halifax at 3, checked into the HIE Harbourside on the Dartmouth side of Halifax Harbour. After a wardrobe change we walked down to the Dartmouth/Halifax Ferry for a quick crossing to Halifax city proper. Walked the boardwalk there for a bit and scoped out the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia for a planned thorough visit tomorrow.
Charles enjoyed a crab cake appetizer at Murphy's on the wharf and then we caught a return ferry to Dartmouth. The ferry service is ancient. It's been in uninterrupted operation since 1752 !
